Thrifting Extravaganza!

Something major happened to me this weekend- I had the most AMAZING shopping experience of my life!  That is a big statement...but after reading this post, you'll understand.  Have you ever visited the Salvation Army Dallas location (Harry Hines)? If you haven't, please go now!  I've been to this location quite a few times, and always walk out with something in hand.  They have the glasses cases with the special goodies, today they had Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, and. But I wasn't going after those items in the case, I hit the racks to see what I could find.  And boy, did I find!  When I spotted the plum colored Karl Lagerfeld pencil skirt for $5 ($9.99 price tag plus 50% off), I was convinced that I had found the ultimate deal!  But I keep digging and ultimately found a London Fog Trench Coat with removable faux fur lining ($24.99 price tag plus 50% off), a Neiman Marcus Shirt Dress ($12.99 price tag plus 50% off), and for the finale:  CHANEL WOOL WIDE-LEG TROUSERS FOR $4.50! I can honestly say that my heart skipped a beat and I had to do a double take to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me!  I die for Chanel.  Still in shock...not to worry, I didn't take all the good stuff, there was a lot of vintage ESCADA by Margaretha Ley- trousers (too small for me) and a few blazers.  Also spotted another London Fog trench and 7 for All Mankind jeans.

The key to this store, is to dig and continue to dig...look at all the racks, if possible (my Chanel trousers were lodged in between denim jeans and khakis).  If you're not as familiar with spotting labels, the key is to pay attention to fabrics.  You can always tell by the fabric and the construction of the piece. The fabric will be heavier, it will be constructed well, it will be lined if it's a skirt or pant. Touch it, you'll be able to tell the difference in the way the garment feels.

I'll probably be at this Salvation Army every week from now on, so if you decided to check it out, give me a shout and I'll meet you there :). Below are pics of my chic finds, enjoy!

  2. that's my spot! Ha, we can share it :) Amazing finds...I feel like the fashion gods were looking down on me that day! Sadly the Chanel trousers wouldn't photograph well, too dark. I'll show you them in person this winter
